Great stay, right on the water!

Review by cynthia f.
After getting burned in the past with rental a 'lakefront property' that ended up being on swampy water or not really on the water...this property was such a relief! Beautiful, clean water to jump in right off the dock. The cabin is older, but had all the comforts that we needed. The couches (futons) are uncomfortable, and the dock needs to have a ladder! We had a VERY hard time getting back on the dock. Impossible without almost popping your raft to use to help get up! But besides that...everything else was great. We LOVED waking up to view the gorgeous lake through the large windows. We had a wonderful stay and will be renting the Huckleberry Rose again for sure!

Beautiful view!

This cabin was in a great location. We loved being right on the lake and all the windows were delightful. It was beautiful to watch the snow fall and the mist on the lake in the mornings. We had 7 adults and the cabin was definitely not meant to sleep 7 or 8. The loft bed was accessible with a very steep ladder. The futon in the living room was hard as a rock and there were no extra sheets or blankets. The furniture was very uncomfortable. It should probably only say sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids. The beds downstairs were nice and comfortable. The extra heaters were great. We loved the cozy fireplace also! The kitchen had all the pans and dishes we needed. There is no dishwasher so we bought and used a lot of paper products. We left our salt and pepper for the next guests as there were none available to use. We enjoyed our stay and the view and location could not have been better!!

Wonderful Winter Hideaway

Review by
Our stay at Huckleberry Rose was wonderful! The cabin has amazing views of the lake and the cabin itself is cozy and warm. The furniture in the living room needs to be updated - it's very uncomfortable. We wish there had been wifi, too. No wifi and poor cell reception. The DVD player didn't work, so we bought one and left it for others to enjoy. Overall we really liked our Christmas get away at Huckleberry Rose cabin. We recommend it to anyone wanting to spend some lakefront time in McCall.

Wedding Guests

Good. A guest lost her jewelry bag (not sure if it was left in the rental) and it hasn't been found...easily lost somewhere else. Also there were no sheets/blankets for the futton bed in the LR. Odd. The house was advertised as sleeping 8 but wasn't prepared for 8. Otherwise, clean and convenient.

Old-fashioned Huckleberry Rose Vacation

Review by Valerie M.
Huckleberry Rose was reminiscent of the '60's or '70's, which was probably when the cabin was built. Some updating has occurred since then, but our vacation experience was very cabin-y, as we expected. Our group of eight young adults very much overwhelmed the cabin sleeping space and the futons and floor sleeping with pads wasn't the most comfortable. The amazing view right outside our windows and the spacious kitchen made up for this, plus the fact that in McCall in the summer, you are outside most of the time. Most concerning was the very moldy smell from the bathroom area that continued to be pervasive throughout our week. Someone needs to look into that. We were pleased with the quick service from maintenance when we had some minor plumbing issues. It was a good week for us in McCall at Huckleberry Rose.

A Wonderful Stay

Overall a great place to vacation. The house is right on the water, with a dock to play from. Boat, swim, play right out the back door. The house is a quick 10 minute drive from McCall, and 5 minutes from a boating rental location. My only caution is that the house does get a bit warm in the heat of the summer, so I would recommend a couple of fans to keep the air moving for a restful nights sleep. The house is not air conditioned.

Great little cabin!

Review by Andrew L.
We stay here every year and were pleased this year. The quiet setting and views were awesome as usual. The new TV, tile floor in the bathrooms, and a general de-cluttering were nice improvements. The back door needs to be replaced and a ladder from the water to the deck would make water access easier with no boat. The futons in the living room are very uncomfortable for sitting and sleeping. Time for new mattresses, pads or sofa sleepers. It is not comfortable for more than 6 adults with small children on the floor. That along with the 4 wash cloths and 3 hand towels, does not match the "sleeps 8" advertising.

Absolutely Wonderful

Review by April F.
We had the best time and the best stay ever. Right on the lake is this quaint little cabin with immediate access to the lake. After a fun day of boating and fishing we fired up the BBQ to cook the days catch. Watched the BSU game. We had one little thing where the water didn't work, we called and they were out in 15 minutes to turn on a switch, and the water was on. Highly recommended and thank you Accomidation services for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Lake Home

Review by
This home has a very nice location but I would have to say it is not a kid friendly home(children under 5 not suitable). I have a 18month old and it was a little scary at times because he can fit his body through the railing including the upper deck. Had a little bit of anxiety needless to say. Would be a lovely home for families with children over the age of five. Will go back to home when my son is little bit older.

Excellent Location

Huckleberry Rose is an excellent property for those who want to enjoy lake and a boat dock. It is very quiet here with stunning views. However the home itself wasn't exactly as expected. I would say this home sleeps 5 comfortably not the 8 that is listed. The bathrooms are not on the same floor as the bedrooms which for the elderly was a problem. The futons available for sleeping are awful. The loft is also interesting in that it is very tight up there and the ladder up precarious to climb. (No small children up there). Updating the futons and making sure the renter understands the bathroom situation is a must. Otherwise, we enjoyed 5 glorious days in McCall.

Was too far from town...

Review by John G.
Not child safe with stairs, outside patio, and deck, alot of cobwebs, not enough toliet paper nor trash bags (had to purchase them)Not sure about cleanleness when it says, to make the beds that were slept in, how do you know who slept in them. The view was beautiful, better if we had our own boat, but too far to town and nowhere to take a walk (on the highway?)

Manager Response:
Thank you for your feed back. This home is not great for small children due to it is built at the waters edge and multiple stairs. We provide you a starter set of toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo etc... We ask that you do not make up any beds that you use during your stay. Your location was off a road not a highway?

Love the location!

Great cabin on the water. Very quiet and secluded on the north end of Payette Lake. The 2 bedrooms are comfortable but the futon and loft beds are not real comfortable. The futon mattress is very worn and the loft bed is difficult to get to and hot on warm nights - great for kids but not for adults. The gas grill is worn out and needs to be replaced. Overall great for the price though.

the old huck rose

Review by Ken A.
overall it was good,a great location on the lake. a bit tough to access the water for launching large kayaks from the driveway above,no handrails on stairs.nice dock however. I would get rid of old clawfoot tub in front bath if it were my cabin . a few general upgrades would be nice as well.

Great location. Close enough to town to feel within town limits, yet far enough away to feel like a true lake cabin.Came 2000 miles from southern Louisiana and would do it again.Very pleased overall!!!!

SECLUDED ON THE LAKE LOCATION!

Review by Bob & Kelly N.
THIS RENTAL IS ABSOLUTELY ON THE LAKE. THERE IS NO DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU AND THE WATER. THE FISHING OFF THE DOCK WAS AWESOME. WE ATE OUR FILL OF 12-14" RAINBOW TROUT. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN YOU WILL WANT TO HAVE LIFE JACKETS AND SUPERVISION. THIS RENTAL HAS FULL SUN AND IS QUITE UNIQUE. BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR NEW THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. THIS IS AN OLDER 2 STORY CABIN WITH 2 BEDROOMS IN THE BASEMENT WITH DECK AND DOCK OUT TO THE WATER. IDEAL FOR SUMMER WATER FUN AND FISHING OR SNOWMOBILING AND SKIING IN THE WINTER.
